Why the Folio Scrapbook is Perfect for Creative Memory-Keeping

The Folio Scrapbook is the centerpiece of this project. Measuring 6.5" x 10.5," it's a versatile format that encourages free-flow scrapbooking or junk journaling. Here are its standout features:

  • 12 Pages for Creativity: Enough room for photos, journaling spots, and embellishments.

  • A Pocket for Ephemera: Perfect for tucking away memorabilia like old ads, ticket stubs, or notes.

  • Customizable Closure Options: Choose velcro, ribbon, or twine for a unique finish.

I decorated the folio with a holiday paper pack from Simple Stories for this Christmas project and added embellishments from my craft stash. The creative possibilities are endless, and I'd love to hear how you'd use this folio—leave your ideas in the comments!

A Walk Down Memory Lane: The Inspiration Behind This Project

This album began with a stack of old Christmas photos I rediscovered while cleaning out my parents' home. Sorting through over 40 magnetic photo albums, I was struck by how many memories these pictures held—especially those of the toys I received as an only child.

From Fisher-Price playsets to a Barbie camper (sans Barbie, but that's a story for the video!), these toys sparked my imagination and kept me company on rainy days. They were more than just toys; they were cherished companions. Creating this scrapbook became a tribute to those joyful moments.

Nostalgic Details and DIY Tips

To make this album even more unique, I gathered additional materials:

  • Pinterest Inspiration: I revisited an old Pinterest board featuring 1970s toys, allowing me to print pictures of the toys and vintage ads to incorporate into the album.

  • Stash Essentials: Papers, stamps, and embellishments from my collection brought the pages to life.

  • Cricut Joy Extra: You know I can't make a project without my Cricut!

For those worried about using original photos, consider scanning them and printing copies for your scrapbook. I chose archival-safe materials, so I felt confident using my originals.

Reflecting on an "Interesting" Year

This project represents more than a nostalgic trip down memory lane—it's part of my ongoing journey to rethink memory keeping. Over the past year, I've embraced a more meaningful, flexible approach, focusing on storytelling and personal reflections rather than strict design rules.

I'll share more about how this mindset shift is shaping my creative journey—and my business—in the new year. For now, watch the video for a peek at the completed album. I love how it turned out and am excited to create more projects with the Folio Scrapbook.
